    Idli Milagai Podi

    Mustard - 1 tsp
    Urad dal - 1 cup.
    Chana Dal/ kadalai paruppu - 1/2 cup
    Dry red chili - 20 in count or 1 cup or according to taste.
    salt for taste
    Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
    Brown Sugar or Jaggery - 2 tbsp. 
    Sesame seed oil - 1 tbsp. 

    1. Heat oil in a saute pan. 
    2. when the oil is hot, add mustard seeds. when all the mustards crackles up, add urad dal and chana dal. Roast them for 3-4 min on medium high heat until the dal gets golden brown and aromatic. 
    3. Add the red chilies. 
    4. Add Asafoetida 

    Blend all the roasted ingredients along with salt. 
    When the all the ingredients are coarsely powdered add 2 tbsp of brown sugar and mix them well. 
    Serve with hot idli.
